I can't think of a more aurally beautiful music release in the last several years as this ep is. Looks like I am late to the party but every song is shimmering with ethereal sounds and lovely melodies....
Favorite track: Day Of Gold.

I don't know how Carina is related to Mark, but she just scored a hat trick and won my Stanley Cup! Well done. Some super dreamy pop here folks, ripe for the taking. Mmm...
Favorite track: Through The Cracks.
Carina Messier was born and raised near Brussels, Belgium within an artistic family. Both parents were painters and sculptors of some regional reputation. But, it was a beloved uncle who played clarinet in local dance bands who introduced her to music.
As Carina entered her teens, the Messier family moved to Montreal. It was there where she began teaching herself guitar and keyboards, while also developing deep interests in astronomy, physics, science fiction and graphics.
In 2018 Carina moved to West Hollywood and started assembling her small home studio in which she expands her musical experiments. She writes and records songs that blend her various extra-musical interests tinged with unique musical inflections from her homeland. This EP is Carina’s first release.
Carina loves to spend time at the Griffith Observatory when she is not creating in her studio.
"Who’s that lady? Her CD arrived with a scant bio, but handed a garden of earthly delights this lovely, a reviewer wishes to know more. Good luck finding anything on the net, though! It’s like she’s never existed, but her mellifluous music sure does!
N&NW is full of lithe, resplendent, sonic sweets skirting the limits of every lick of beautiful noise, from ’60s soundtracks, to Mazzy Star-ish Roback guitar, to chamber organ pop, to something akin to Ivy. It feels like riding in a sleek car through the Mojave, retracing Hunter Thompson’s steps from L.A. to Vegas, the top down, and the cacti/brush glimmering in peaceful moonlight.
Messier’s an angel of a singer too, alighting with light touch upon her becoming background beds. Apparently, she lives in L.A., post-Brussels, Belgium upbringing and a Montreal pitstop, and holds a yen for space (likely loving the Carina Constellation, and 1730-1817 French Astronomer Charles Messier’s catalog of faint star clusters and nebulae objects!). Her music evokes that “final frontier” and it’s gorgeous."

From track 1 to 10, totally blissed out tunes. So hard to pick a favourite. Keep up the good work & get yourself to the UK once we're 'all clear'. biggjazza

Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley

Shoegaze ist die Kunst des Dröhnens, doch „Everything Is Alive“ setzt diese Elemente nur sparsam ein. Statt Hall- und Zerr-Sounds aufzutürmen, schäumt die Musik in feinen Bläschen über.
